God's sign

About Us

The name for the gallery “Tjitra”comes from my first girlfriend from many years ago with Moluccan roots. We met again in the year 2000 after we both got divorced and it was love on second sight ;-) Although nothing has been written about it, as far as we could find it, we were told that the name means “God’s sign”. All our objects are in someway related to a god, gods, ancestry or superstitions. Linking that with the fact that we live in a small village called “Engelen” (township of ‘s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands) which translates to “Angels”, naming the gallery “Tjitra” feels more than appropriate.

Tjitra Palijama

I was born in 1967 in the Netherlands and had a Superdry clothing shop since 2011 until 2023. It’s was really nice to help people and give advice on what to wear and how to combine clothing items. In april 2023 I started a job in a castle in Vught. Besides my job, I have a passion for singing and do this regularly in a band for parties etc. Doing this gives me great joy. I also like to work together with Jacques and put up our collection online for sale to a broader international audience.

Jacques Cremer

I was born in 1965 in the Netherlands and have always worked with a lot of different cultures in my professional life as a financial controller.

Because of this, I have developed a great interest in the arts and crafts from all kind of cultures. Both professionally and leisurely I have travelled to a lot of different countries and have learned a lot about their people and cultures. My father was a collector of all kind of antiques and because I inherited his collectors genes, I started to collect nice objects. At some point in time it started to grow out of handed and I needed to do something with it, so I started a gallery together with Tjitra to keep working on my passion. I work with numbers for work on a daily basis, so it gives me great joy to be able to work on my passion at home, which is also our gallery.

It feels like living in our own museum.
