Beautiful large Nautilus cymatocera from Madagascar

• The Nautilus has been ground and polished. This means that the individual chambers of the housing with their wonderful colors are shown to their best advantage.
• Cymatoceras is an extinct genus of nautilus in the family Cymatoceratidae. They lived from the Late Jurassic to the Oligocene, approximately 155 to 23 million years ago. Fossilized nautilus are found much less frequently than ammonites.
• Long before the first ammonites existed, the Nautiloid already formed a wide variety of forms. Their heyday was in the Ordovician and Silurian periods snd even today, after over 500,000 years, six different species of Nautilus still live in the western Pacific.
