Chinese set of temple ancestor statues from wood of the Qing Dynasty

• At the back of the male statue there is a hole but the small cotton wrapped package and the lid is missing in the female statue the lid is still in and could contain this cotton wrapped package.
• The package contains mostly the following:
  • a piece of paper with a message, prayer, request.
  • some rice for food.
  • some herbs for good health.
  • some cotton for clothing.
• These statues weer offered or placed at the temple of the giver and writer of the message.
