Unique Barasaurus besairiei reptiles fossils (incl. 2 babies), positive and negative from Madagascar

- Period: Late Permian (259.8-251.902 million years)
- Material: Reptile fossil
- Size: Barasaurus 27 cm approx.
- Size: babies about 8 cm
- Size: 24 x 20 cm each
- Weight: 6,210 gram total
- Complete Barasaurus with the head preserved are very rare. Here is a beautifull, all natural and unrestored specimen with preserved gastoliths. The 2 babies making it extra special!
- Gastoliths are grinding stones which are often found in the stomachs of these animals.
- Barasaurus besariei was first described in 1955 and classified as a fully distinct species in 2004.
- They were predominantly terrestrial reptiles and probably ate mostly insects and craustaceans.
